It’s a wrap! May 2020

I was excited about May from the start. I decided to finally focus on working on my podcast, so I only worked on projects that landed in my lap without looking for them actively.

I found Readwise, which makes it easy to access my book highlights, and it helped me compile notes for different episodes I wanted to explore.

I’ve been talking about wanting to start a podcast since November, but things have been so busy I never managed to actually sit down and work on it. After this past month, I feel like I’ve written several books because jotting down the notes for the episodes I envisioned was an academic battlefield. I still don’t know if how I record them will live up to my idea of what I’d like these episodes to be, but I guess if I don’t try, I’ll never find out.

I’m happy I’ve finally settled on a name.

In English, I’ll launch it as Wishes for the Future

In German, I’ll launch it as Zukunftswünsche.

Yes, okay, it’s insane that I’m starting with two languages, but because I wanted to do it in German at least, it only feels right to eventually also record it in English.

On my podcast, I want to talk about the things I wish would come true in the future. I’ll share personal stories about my past and the facts and figures that made me come up with the wishes I’ll be talking about.

In the first season, I want to speak about waste. These are the episodes I’m currently preparing:

  • Intro: Why I’m starting a podcast

  • I wish everyone would compost

  • I wish fashion would become a circular economy

  • I wish packaging would be sustainable

  • I wish periods were a sustainable matter

  • I wish people understood the mechanics of advertising

  • BONUS: I wish changing habits was easy

I really hope I’ll manage to launch the podcast at some point in June. I wanted to go live on the 1st of June, but it’s already been taking much longer than I thought it would. I’m still not done.

And I also slowly need more work again, so if you know someone who’s looking for help with branding, copywriting, localization, or marketing ideas, please reach out.

Besides working on the podcast, I’m happy I’ve continued my localization work with Plentific and that I’m also finally working on the launch of the Open European Dialogue, which is an initiative of the German Marshall Fund. Max is currently designing the website, and I’m working on the launch and communication strategy starting with qualitative interviews before I’ll design a customer lifecycle and launch strategy. I’m looking forward to seeing the redesigned website go live soon!
