It’s a wrap! August 2025

In-between the summer break of our kids’ daycare, a visit to my all time favourite place: Æro in Denmark and a lot of time spent at the playground I wasn’t expecting August to be a very exciting work month. However, it didn’t disappoint as I’ve had two noteworthy accomplishments:

The crowdfunding campaign for Vollpension, the Austrian social business that fights female elderly poverty successfully finished. When the team asked me if I could help fundraise money for future growth, I spent a day pondering about how I wanted to set up the campaign. We decided to leverage both crowdfunding and crowdinvesting in our financing strategy, yet, I decided to rebranded crowdfunding for this purpose and instead made it into a search for future regulars. We decided to not communicate the amount of money we raised, but rather focus solely on getting to 1.000 future “regulars” to gain social proof.

While Vollpension is first and foremost a social business, gastronomy has become an increasingly tough business model to defend. Most investors stay away from it and thus having a social proof is essential in order to raise money; and I believe there’s no better social proof than people paying money for something that doesn’t even exist yet. Hence, the point of the crowdfunding campaign. We’re currently getting ready for a crowdinvesting campaign that we’ll start communicating about on the 16th of September, 25.

The other milestone, more fun less business so to say, is that I’ve created a website for my favourite café using Squarespace. I think it turned out quite well I’d say.

Last but not least, I’d love to share some book recommendations: Less is More by Jason Hickel and if you’d like some more fun and fiction then Everyone is Lying to You by Jo Piazza is a great one that helped me with understanding the whole hype about tradwives and how we even got there.
